Meet Our Team
Like you, our Attorneys are self-starters.
Lekha and Priyanka first met during the California Bar Exam in 2013– they had each moved to the United States to experience a new country dreaming of a career in the hotbed of innovation and ingenuity – California. Looking back at their first meeting, both of them recall that moment of relief on finding someone they identified with while waiting nervously to step into the exam hall. Although after clearing the California Bar and obtaining their post graduate degrees they went on to do different things, their paths often crossed. Eventually, their common desire to create a law practice that reflects their values led Lekha and Priyanka to come together to found M & T Legal.
Being business owners themselves, Lekha and Priyanka know, firsthand, the energy, hard work, sacrifice, resilience, planning, and enthusiasm that goes into scaling up a business from an idea to something viable. Because they have been there, they understand the entrepreneur’s journey and are passionate about working with other young businesses and entrepreneurs to help them build a solid legal foundation that sets them up for growth. Also, their international experience provides M & T Legal with a unique vantage point when it comes to anticipating and addressing legal issues in an increasingly globalized world.

“Kites rise high against the wind, not with it.” – Winston Churchill
Lekha believes that no two clients are the same, and her practice focuses on providing non-generic solutions to entrepreneurs and startups on business formation, startup planning and capital raise. She also regularly provides ‘outside in-house’ counsel services and has been a trusted team player and counsel for many small and medium sized businesses, advising them on drafting and negotiating a wide range of business agreements, regulatory compliance and risk assessments, employment issues, dispute resolution and other general corporate matters.
Know More
Growing up, Lekha was constantly encouraged to analyze, reason and debate and as a result, she developed a strong sense of justice and fairness. Becoming a lawyer was a logical culmination of these childhood values and influences, which continue to inform and enrich her lawyering. Prior to M&T Legal, Lekha owned her own solo practice focused on business law, which helped her find her niche and lay the foundations for much of her practice today. She completed her Masters in Law from UC Berkeley and holds a bachelor’s degree in law from NALSAR, one of the top law schools in India. She began her career at the prestigious Indian law firm, Amarchand & Mangaldas, where she advised top private equity funds on cross-border investments and represented leading merchant bankers on securities offerings by prominent Indian companies. Before relocating to the US in 2012, she also worked as a M&A lawyer in PwC where she advised multinational clients across industries. Moving to the United States opened up new horizons but also presented several challenges including passing the California Bar, getting a foothold in Silicon Valley’s extremely competitive professional space and navigating a new life in a new country; in retrospect, it is these very experiences that set her up for growth, both as a lawyer and as a person.
Lekha loves exploring and experiencing the outdoors with her husband, Alexy and son, Abhay. Lately, she enjoys making short movies with her husband (who is a photography enthusiast), combining her music and choreography interests.

Know More
Priyanka grew up in a small city in India, in a big, bustling family. She was a voracious reader from an early age, which kindled her curiosity about the bigger world and eventually influenced her decision to move from her hometown to a bigger city to study law. She received her law degree from Bangalore University in India and began her legal career working in the National Judicial Academy, India’s foremost training institute for the judiciary. From there, Priyanka went on to work as a foreign counsel in the business practice group of one of Singapore’s top law firms.
After four years in Singapore, Priyanka relocated to the United States to practice law in California.
